AddOn: Modify Headers

Fake host header-field

Set the desired host in http-request. This is useful for testing virtual hosts when accessing by IP or another domain.

Modify → Host → myapp.mydomain.net

Use case: You need to access or test a virtual host but the domain hasn't been set up yet.

Note: You might want to add a line to /etc/hosts for testing, too.

Fake proxy

Use X-Forwarded-For header-field to fake http proxy which just forwards a request.

Add → X-Forwarded-For → 12.13.14.15

Use case: Accessing www.southparkstudios.com, www.hulu.com and others from countries such as Germany.

See http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv4-address-space/ for IPv4 address space allocation.

Fake user agent

Modify → User-Agent → Lynx/2.8.4rel.1 libwww-FM/2.14 SSL-MM/1.4.1 OpenSSL/0.9.6c

Use case: Pretend to be another browser/bot or test Browser sniffing of websites.

Installing latest flashplayer

Download latest lab-preview of flashplayer from Adobe, e.g. for flashplayer10: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/

$ sudo tar xvf flashplayer_square_p2_64bit_linux_092710.tar.gz  -C /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
libflashplayer.so
